"Sam and Travis- Thank you for another great weekend up at Sunset Lodge! Cindy, Paul, Jim, and I really enjoyed ourselves and are excited to visit again next January! One of the things I enjoy the most is not only the awesome fishing, but the fish fry you make with the fish we catch! I wish I had taken a picture of it when it arrived at our table. What a delicious feast! Thanks again for a fantastic fishing adventure!" - Theresa Taraldsen Happy New Year from all of us at Sunset Lodge!
Fishing Report: Up on Oak Island, walleye and sauger fishing remains consistently good. Shallower houses late in the day are reporting some of the best fishing they have ever experienced. Our deeper houses are producing slot fish with regularity, multiple approaching the magic 30 inches! Schools of fishing moving through mid-day keep the action consistent and the occasional monster pike keeps it interesting. Jumbo perch pass through here and there with one house catching 8 perch between 12-14.” A fresh 1.5” of snow will improve trail conditions once the wind subsides and they can be groomed. Side x sides and ATV traffic is still easy with no substantial snow in the 10-day forecast. Pay close attention around cracks and heaves as ice expands and contracts at a faster rate during temperature swings without snow to insulate. Ice in our area is averaging 18”, some places as much as 24”. Check out our Blog for current fish pictures! Winter & Summer 2025 Availability:

Tucked away in this remote paradise, a few full-service resorts offer cozy accommodations and exceptional angling experiences. But here’s the big question: how do you get there?
While some choose the more conventional route of driving through Canada via the Warroad point of entry and re-entering the U.S., others arrange a Bombardier service that shuttles groups from certain departure points. But there's another option—an exhilarating, scenic journey that’s as much about the adventure as the destination." Snowmobiling Across the Lake: The Ultimate Winter Escape |
