Our spring LOW trip was amazing! Great weather and Fishing out of Sunset Lodge on Oak Island. Blake Julius Sawdy and I have been going here for 5 years and love the staff and accommodations at Sunset lodge. I’m looking forward to bringing my 5yo son in Aug to share this experience.
Fishing stats for 2 guys over 4.5 days.
375 fish
45 Walleyes over 20"
Biggest walleye 27.5"
Biggest northern 38"
Water temps were 58 on Tuesday and got up to 63 on Saturday, with some shallow bays at 68.
Most fish (all 20"+) were caught in 12-16 FOW off points and steep breaks, we found a few schools of perch and nice eater walleyes in 20 FOW over mid lake humps. We also caught fish in 28 FOW. We had the best bites with Windfall Fishing Company frozen bait and Gold Jig but also did well with 3.5” plastic shad (pearl color)
The key is to keep moving if you are not hammering them. Some spots were 20 fish an hour vs other spots we only caught a couple in 30 mins and left. Good luck and tight lines!

6:30am: Lodge Opens, Kitchen Opens. 9pm: Kitchen Closes. 1am: *Bar Closes

Summer Hours:
7:00am: Lodge Opens, Kitchen Opens. 10pm: Kitchen Closes. 1am: *Bar Closes

*If no one is in the bar at 10pm, the bar will close early. Pizza is available in the bar until close.

**American Plan meal times: Breakfast is served anytime after kitchen opening hours until 10:30am. Dinner at 6:30-9pm.
