Having never visited Lake of the Woods before, we were not sure what to expect as far as accommodations, food, equipment and fishing. When we arrived by shuttle boat, the dock crew led by Cory and Ethan greeted us and quickly transported all our luggage up to our cabin. Upon entering our cabin which was clean and rustic, we found the the room had a TV, internet and air conditioning, talk about roughing it in the North Woods!! We walked up to the lodge/restaurant bar and checked in and were greeted by one of the friendliest bartenders named Dan you could meet. Dan and Megan were on duty every evening taking care of us and made us feel so welcome. At breakfast, Megan and Linda were always at our table with coffee and our order. What great meals we enjoyed each day especially prepared by the lodges culinary chef Kristen and Alex. Now after all these preliminary items, the real reason we visited was for the fishing which exceeded our expectations. The fishing for all species especially musky and walleye was equal to any fly in camp I know. We caught fish every day on the Minnesota side, and had three incredible fish fry's for dinner. The musky were cooperating and we caught them up to 47 inches. Overall we can't say thank you enough to our hosts Travis and Samantha for making this one our best fishing trips EVER." We got to spend the last week of July with the Sunset Lodge crew. We had a fantastic time. A great first day with Corey as our guide, we caught a bunch of walleye and he showed us spots to fish the rest of the week. Their rental boats were top notch. We boated 2 muskies and lost 2 more. The food was fantastic, the staff is awesome and the lodge is great cool hangout with a mix of guests and locals.
