Greetings from Sunset Lodge!

Let's start with the good news. :) Walleye/Sauger fishing has been excellent in the Northwest Angle! Currently all sizes of fish can be found in shallow rocks or sand. Trolling Rapalas in 4-8' of water or casting at the shoreline have both been effective. Pulling a crawler harness or leeches in the same area has also been productive. Walleye can also be caught via jig and minnow off of deep edges of shoreline breaks and reefs.

Now the bad news, the Canadian border and waters remain closed at this time. Current restrictions have just been extended and are due to end on the 21st of July.

More good news! You still have options to vacation with us & fish the NW Angle!

1. Take a boat shuttle up from the south end of Lake of the Woods.
o Gregg at Sportsmans Lodge (Baudette) runs a passenger service on Lake of the Woods! If you currently have a trip booked with us and were planning to come over from Young's Bay you will now need to boat up from the south end. Call or go to Gregg's website ASAP for availability. When you have your shuttle scheduled, email us the details.

2. Take your own boat up from the south end of Lake of the Woods.
o Please consider safety and double check equipment (bilge pumps,charging systems, life jackets) and the weather forecast before venturing across the lake, be sure to let someone know your ETA.

4. Fly your own sea plane up.

Many of you contacted us to book for June & July and we were unable to accommodate since we were full. Because of the situation we find ourselves in, we now have some openings that we didn’t have previously.

If you currently have a reservation and would like to postpone to later in the season or to next summer, please email us with alternate dates or your mailing address for a deposit refund. Please note: We will refund deposits for any new or existing reservations due to COVID-19 related changes.
