Up at the NW Angle, we still have about 22 inches of ice on the Minnesota side where our houses are at and an average of 16 inches up on Ontario where we are fishing for crappies. On the Minnesota side, the fishing continues to improve, the warmer weather has helped the bite. We are fishing by Little Oak, Norman & Shady Islands in 24-32 FOW. Jigging is working best in the morning and evenings. Dead stick is producing best during the day. Red Buck shots, gold spoons and jigging raps are getting the active fish to bite. For dead sticks, it seems like a whole minnow mixed with a Glow Demon or small gold spoon seem to be the ticket. We've been scouting around Garden Island, which is our late season spot, it hasn't turned on yet. On the Ontario side, our guided crappie trips are still producing very well. The crappie bite continues to be the best ever. It's as good as what Red Lake ever was and it's a daytime bite. Guided crappie trips include bomber transportation and Clam houses. Today, we are looking forward to the arrival of Gary Parsons and Keith Kavajecz-Walleye Pro's-The Next Bite TV. They will be fishing out of Sunset Lodge this week! Until next week, good fishing!
