“We absolutely loved our stay at Sunset Lodge. We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. The staff was there to help and answer any questions we had and were very helpful to us (being it was our first time at the angle). The food was outstanding and service in bar/restaurant was excellent. The fishing was tremendous as well. My wife wasn't happy as she likes to read a book while we fish but the darn fish kept interrupting her from reading! The other visitors were friendly and fun to visit with as well. We will definitely be back to Sunset Lodge. I'll send a couple of pictures if I can figure it out. And feel free to share the above with whoever you like. The only negative was the headache I had the last morning from helping Dan the bartender celebrate his birthday!” - John C
“Samantha did a nice job and was very helpful. She was always there with answers to our questions. Very helpful on the pricing checkout and did the bill at least 3 times so we could make it custom for our group. The main lodge was very nice and the food and drinks were good! Sara was our server for breakfast and she was so much fun I will personally never forget her. If I still worked at Frito- Lay I would have stolen her from you. Ray was an excellent guide and a lot of fun for three days and we will ask for him back next year. I never fished with Forrest and heard he did a good job. We loved the Islands and will be back next year!” - Tom W “Hello, just wanted to thank everyone at Sunset for another great trip. It had been a couple years since we were there and you keep making improvements each time. The staff was friendly and helpful and Sam as always brightens everyone’s day with her smile. Thanks” - Mike B “Sunset Lodge is a very nice place to visit for a day or for a week. If you have a boat or float plane, it easy to visit. If you need a ride from Young's Bay, Northwest Angle, cal them as you enter Canada. We crossed the border at Roseau/South Junction. It took us about and hour to drive to Young's Bay. There is plenty of parking and as we arrived our boat Captain was in the parking lot looking for us. We were on the boat in short order and off on a 15+ minute ride to Sunset Lodge. The lake was smooth and beautiful. There are several island with beautiful cabins and resort to see on the way. We were met at the Sunset Lodge dock by staff to take our belonging to the Lodge. Sunset Lodge is a a tranquil sight as you approach it from the lake. It is a beautiful place with a very welcoming feeling. The staff are all well trained and very customer focused. They work well together and create a very comfortable and friendly environment that makes guess feel right at home from the start. The facilities are well maintained and there are numerous activities that you can engage in beside fishing. There were several families at the Lodge enjoying themselves. The are many places to sit on Lodge's many level deck and porch space. You can soak up the rays or enjoy a book in the shade. The main Lodge had a store, bar, restaurant, lounge area, and games to enjoy. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. We enjoyed a late lunch and found the menu to be full of a diverse selection of items. Our group enjoyed he Walleye bites and lemon pepper wings and salads. The wing were some of the best I have eaten. The food was prepared to perfection and promptly served. The portion size was well in line with the pricing. There is something on the menu for everyone's desire. Try the Bloody Mary...very good! It is a popular place with local residents and guest from the mainland and other nearby island. It was great to met many of the other other visitors...there is a great sense of community. The fishing the day we were there was fantastic the day we were there. People were returning with their daily limit. The Lodge kitchen staff will prepare your catch for your evening meal. It was a great way to spend the day and we plan on returning in the future.” 5/5 Star Trip Advisor Review Richard S “Everything was excellent!” - Mitch M "The trip was great, in the 4 days I think we fished around 40 hours even though the winds were pretty strong on Sunday and Monday. The lodge is fantastic, the people working there are great. I will add a couple of thoughts we had. The food was great if you liked the food, if would be nice to have an alternative option. We were on the American plan. I think we would have liked to eat dinner earlier around 5 instead of 7, because we wanted more time after dinner to go out to fish. The best fishing is early and late in the day. I’m already planning on coming back next year, I will contact you with a schedule soon. Regards, - John J "Another great week at Sunset, can’t wait to get back. If I could book for next year, 3 of us again same as this year."" - Rob B "Wow, great trip to Sunset again great staff and awesome fishin even saw wheel house willy." - Brent W "Great place. Great staff. Cabins are awesome and the guys running the docks are always helpful when we pull in." Rich G "As usual the group at Sunset did a wonderful job. Chris did a great job with the meals, Dan did a great job behind the bar and Sam made checkout a breeze. Dockboys did an excellent job as well. Look forward to being back there next summer. Good friends of mine are coming up in August. There is an outside chance I could sneak away for a couple days." Brady S
